Dacia officially opens orders for new engines for Spring in Romania: 70 and 100 HP versions available today

Electric revolution in Mioveni: Dacia Spring breaks the 100 HP barrier. Orders are officially open in Romania

Mioveni, March 4, 2026 – Dacia Spring, the car that democratized electric mobility in Europe, today makes the biggest technological leap since its launch. The Mioveni-based manufacturer has officially started taking orders in Romania for the new versions of the electric model, introducing engines that radically transform the driving experience: 70 HP and, for the first time ever, the "muscular" 100 HP version.

If until now Spring was viewed strictly as a city vehicle, the new updates promise to take it confidently out on national roads and even the highway.

Performance and efficiency: From "city car" to "highway-safe"

The biggest news comes under the hood, but also in the "belly" of the car. Dacia has replaced the old engines with much more capable units, powered by a 24.3 kWh LFP (Lithium-Iron-Phosphate) battery. This is the first time that the Renault Group has adopted this battery chemistry, recognized for its longevity, increased thermal safety and the ability to be charged to 100% without accelerated degradation.

The numbers that matter:

  • Acceleration: The 100 HP version transforms the Spring into a nimble car, reducing the time required for 0-100 km/h to much more competitive figures (approximately 6.9 seconds, compared to the 14-20 seconds of previous generations).
  • Record consumption: Efficiency has been improved by 9%, reaching a consumption of just 12.4 kWh/100 km.
  • Autonomy: Up to 225 km in WLTP mixed mode, which remains ideal for daily commuting and short extra-urban outings.

Refined handling: Goodbye, roll!

It's not just the engine that's new. Dacia engineers listened to customer feedback and made important structural changes. For the first time, Dacia Spring comes standard with an anti-roll bar, an element that, together with the recalibrated suspension and steering, promises much better cornering stability and more mature roadholding.

The assistance systems package (ADAS) has also been updated to comply with the latest European safety regulations, including automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assistance and traffic sign recognition.

Prices and Equipment: Dacia simplicity remains in power

Dacia maintains the strategy of a simplified range, linking the new engines to specific equipment levels:

Engine Version Power Trim Level Price (incl. VAT)
Electric 70 70 hp Expression €18,700
Electric 100 100 hp Extreme €19,700

The difference of only 1,000 euros between the 70 HP and 100 HP versions makes the top-of-the-line Extreme equipment an extremely tempting option for those looking not only for power, but also for specific aesthetic details (copper design elements and the 10-inch Media Display multimedia system).

Conclusion: A new chapter for Spring

With this update, Dacia Spring stops being just "the cheapest electric" and becomes a multi-purpose car. With 100 horsepower on a body that remains under the one-ton threshold, Spring promises surprising dynamics, while maintaining the financial pragmatism that has made it famous.

Deliveries for the new models are scheduled to begin during the spring of this year.
