Chery exceeds 2.000 registrations in Romania and sets a new global record with Tiggo

Lightning-fast rise for Chery: record global exports and over 2,000 cars registered in Romania

The global and local auto market is undergoing a rapid reconfiguration, and the Chinese manufacturer Chery is consolidating its position as the leader of the range among the newcomers. According to the latest official figures, the Asian brand has set a new historical record for exports in a single month, while on the Romanian market it has already exceeded an extremely important symbolic threshold: 2,000 units registered in the first half of 2026.

Record after record on the global market

Globally, Chery Group is demonstrating its expansion force through figures that are hard to ignore. In June alone, the Chinese sold 256,612 vehicles worldwide, of which a huge share – 191,062 units – went directly to export.

The undisputed star of this success is the Tiggo 7 SUV, which set a new all-time record for foreign deliveries in a single month. In June, no less than 30,125 Tiggo 7 units left China's borders to reach international customers. The performance surpasses the previous record set in May of the same year, when the model recorded 29,800 units exported.

Success in Romania: From debut to Top 10 in just one year

To truly understand the scale of its success in Romania, it is essential to look back. Chery officially launched on the Romanian market recently, in July 2025. In just one year since its official debut, the Chinese brand has achieved a performance that other established manufacturers achieve after years of commercial efforts.

The year 2026 started under excellent auspices for Chery in Romania. In January, the manufacturer registered 212 registrations, with the volume increasing to 318 units in February, a performance that ensured it a remarkable market share of 3.5%. The upward trend continued in March, when it reached the threshold of 340 registered units, a success that propelled Chery directly into the Top 10 of car brands in Romania and to the first place in the top of Chinese brands present on the local market at the end of the first quarter.

The finish line of the first half of the year confirms the status of a phenomenon: between January and June 2026, Chery accumulated 2,011 cars registered in Romania, exceeding the psychological threshold of 2,000 units.

What are the patterns behind this growth?

The rapid success on Romanian soil is due to a strategy focused on modern, well-equipped SUVs and propulsion adapted to current efficiency requirements. The portfolio with which Chery conquers customers in Romania is led by the CSH hybrid range (Chery Super Hybrid).

  1. Tiggo 7 CSH and Tiggo 8 CSH (7-seater): They are the mainstays of the brand, offering an attractive mix of technology, generous space and an extremely efficient plug-in hybrid propulsion system. The manufacturer's hybrid technology combines a combustion engine with an electric one and high-performance batteries, promising a total range of up to 1,200 kilometers.
  2. Tiggo 9 CSH: The largest and most luxurious SUV in the range completes the brand's premium offering, attracting customers looking for a higher level of comfort and performance.
  3. Tiggo 4: The compact and more affordable version attracted a wide audience, even managing to individually enter the top 10 best-selling models on the Romanian market in the first months of this year.

Through this competitive range, an excellent equipment-price ratio and a rapidly expanding national network of showrooms, Chery has not only secured a spectacular debut in Romania since last summer, but is also seriously threatening the market shares of some European competitors with old payrolls.
