The Romanian car market is taking an important step towards the democratization of electric mobility. Shortly after its official presentation in July, the new Volkswagen ID.Cross – the German manufacturer’s zero-emission compact SUV – can now be officially ordered in the network of authorized dealers in our country. With an extremely competitive starting price and a diverse range of versions and equipment levels, the new model aims to become a benchmark in the electric urban crossover segment.
Positioning and pricing on the Romanian market: A new entry point into the ID universe.
The commercial strategy adopted by the Wolfsburg-based manufacturer for the Romanian market relies heavily on accessibility, offering a viable alternative for customers who want a new electric vehicle without major financial compromises.
- Starting price: The most affordable Volkswagen ID.Cross starts in Romania at 25,900 euros including VAT. This price is for the version equipped with the 116 HP engine and the compact battery pack, combined with the basic equipment level, called Trend.
- Equipment levels: To satisfy the varied preferences of buyers, the range is structured into three distinct levels – Trend, Life and Style – each bringing added comfort, technology and aesthetic customization options.
Exterior design and interior philosophy: Urban robustness and intelligent space
Visually, the new ID.Cross adopts a dynamic and robust presence, inspired by the DNA of the SUV segment, but optimized for agility in urban environments.
- Exterior aesthetics: Muscular lines, high ground clearance and a wide track give it a robust appearance. Standard equipment includes modern elements such as LED front and rear lights, 17-inch steel wheels with an aerodynamic design and crossover-specific protective elements.
- Interior and ergonomics: The cabin focuses on minimalism and functionality. The platform dedicated to electric vehicles allows for excellent use of interior space, offering generous volume for passengers and luggage, complemented by sustainable textiles and smart storage solutions.
Propulsion systems, batteries and range: Flexibility for the city and long distances
The range of engines and batteries has been designed to cover a wide range of uses, from daily city commuting to extra-urban roads.
- Small 37 kWh battery: The base model can be configured with a battery with a net capacity of 37 kWh, capable of providing a range of up to 324 kilometers in the WLTP cycle, an ideal value for everyday use.
- Power options: The compact battery can be paired with either the 116 hp propulsion version or a more dynamic 135 horsepower variant.
- Performance and efficiency: The thermal management system and electrical architecture ensure optimal charging times at fast direct current (DC) stations, facilitating worry-free medium-distance travel.
Generous onboard technologies and standard features
Even in the entry-level configuration (Trend), the new Volkswagen ID.Cross impresses with the level of technology offered as standard.
- Advanced multimedia system: The dashboard is dominated by a generous 12.9-inch central screen, dedicated to the latest generation multimedia system, which ensures fast connectivity and access to vehicle functions.
- Assistance and safety: The standard equipment package includes a reversing camera, the Park Pilot parking assistance system, automatic headlights with automatic high beam activation assistant, as well as a complex suite of active and passive safety systems designed to protect both occupants and other road users.
