Bentley Torcal 2028 in Romania, estimated prices, launch and details about the first British electric SUV
The transition to the era of zero-emission mobility means not only adopting a new propulsion architecture, but also redefining standards of endurance, software calibration and safety. Before its official debut on international markets, the first 100% electric model in the British brand's century-old history, the new Bentley Torcal, underwent an exhaustive testing program designed to guarantee the impeccable behavior of the battery, structure and digital systems in the most difficult conditions on Earth.
From the polar frost of Sweden to the 4,260-meter altitude of Pikes Peak
To ensure absolute reliability of the high-voltage components and driving dynamics, the engineers in Crewe subjected prototypes of the new Torcal to extremely severe tests.
- Over a million kilometers of testing: The validation program totaled an impressive distance of over a million kilometers, traveled in radical climatic environments.
- Thermal extremes from -36°C to over 40°C: The prototypes braved temperatures as low as -36 degrees Celsius in the frozen regions of Sweden to test the efficiency of the battery thermal management system and grip on low-grip surfaces. At the other extreme, the car was subjected to temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius in desert environments, checking the thermal behavior of the engines and the cabin air conditioning.
- The Pikes Peak Mountain Challenge: The new SUV was tested at altitudes of over 4,260 meters, on the famous mountain route in the United States, where the reduced atmospheric pressure tests the cooling systems and the performance of the electric propulsion.
- Colossal resources: The launch version Torcal First Edition develops a power of approximately 876–888 hp and a maximum torque of 1,350 Nm, performance levels that required rigorous structural verification.
Cutting-edge engineering: Parallel teams, digital validation and software updates every 6 weeks
The development of the brand's first pure electric vehicle involved a complete rethinking of the design and production processes, focusing on efficiency and digital flexibility.
- Specialized teams in parallel: Three distinct divisions worked simultaneously on advanced electrical architecture, software integration, and physical field testing, ensuring a stable and high-performance electronic ecosystem.
- Laser scanning and CAD technology: During the physical design validation phase, engineers used CAD datasets in conjunction with laser scanning directly on real physical components for over 90% of the time. This approach eliminated the downtime of waiting for complete prototypes, allowing rapid adjustment of molds and production equipment.
- Rapid software development cycle: The car's digital system has been optimized through major update packages released at regular six-week intervals. Each software version has been rigorously tested in both laboratory environments and on real vehicles, guaranteeing a smooth digital experience and high-level cybersecurity.
Availability and estimated prices for the Romanian market
With the completion of the intensive validation program and the start of production at the historic factory in Crewe, UK, the new Bentley Torcal is preparing its entry into major international markets, with a confirmed presence in the ultra-luxury segment in Romania.
- Delivery schedule: The first units for European customers are scheduled to hit the roads starting in mid-2027, with the brand's network of partners and authorized importers taking official orders.
- Price estimates: Strategically positioned as a new entry point into the brand's electric universe (situated in size and structure below the Bentayga thermal model), the new Torcal will have an estimated starting price of around 200,000 euros in Western European markets. For the Romanian market, taking into account local taxes, the generous standard equipment level and the vast customization options through the brand's excellence division, the final prices for the basic versions will start from approximately 200,000 - 220,000 euros, while the special launch editions or performance versions will rise considerably above this threshold.
