Production of the new Škoda Peaq has officially started - how much does the Czech electric flagship cost in Romania

The new Škoda Peaq 2027 has entered the assembly line in Mladá Boleslav: The 7-seat electric flagship debuts in Romania from 49.721 euros

MLADÁ BOLESLAV / BUCHAREST — Czech manufacturer Škoda Auto has marked a major new milestone in its electrification strategy with the official entry into series production of the new flagship Škoda Peaq. Presented for the world premiere in June, the large electric SUV has aroused massive interest on the European market: by the end of July, the manufacturer from Mladá Boleslav had already registered almost 8,500 firm orders.

Ultra-flexible production: Four models on a single assembly line

The new Škoda Peaq is assembled at the main plant in Mladá Boleslav (Czech Republic), sharing the same highly flexible production line with the electric Enyaq and Elroq models, as well as the combustion engine versions of the Octavia. This feat of industrial engineering allows the plant to quickly adjust the production pace to market demand.

To make room for the new SUV, which is almost 4.9 meters long, the assembly lines, the pressing department, the body and the paint shop have undergone advanced technical adaptations, including the integration of a special robotic manipulator for the assembly of the third row of seats. The high-voltage battery packs for the Peaq model are also assembled in Mladá Boleslav.

In addition, to free up production capacity for electric vehicles (which exceeded 23% of the total production of Škoda factories in the Czech Republic in the first half of 2026), the Octavia model has been produced since May at the Kvasiny plant, in both Combi and Liftback versions.

The news brought by Škoda Peaq: Design, Space and Cutting-Edge Technology

The Škoda Peaq is the largest and most advanced SUV ever built by the brand, being developed entirely based on the new Modern Solid aesthetic language:

1. Aerodynamic and stylized exterior

  • Tech Deck Face: The reinterpreted front grille houses sensors and the assistance systems' radar, framed by "T"-shaped LED optical blocks.
  • Flush door handles: An absolute first for Škoda — the door handles are completely integrated into the bodywork and automatically extend when the car is unlocked, considerably improving the aerodynamic coefficient.
  • Huge panoramic roof (2.1 m²): The largest glass roof in the brand's history, equipped with Dynamic Shade Control electrochromic technology, which allows the degree of opacity to be adjusted in 9 distinct segments.

2. "Lounge on wheels" interior

  • Versatile configuration with up to 7 seats: With a wheelbase of 2,965 mm, Peaq provides generous space for all three rows of seats.
  • Record-breaking boot: 935 litres in the 5-seater version and 299 litres even with all 7 seats up (maximum volume reaches over 2,075 litres). In addition, there is an additional 37 litres of space (frunk) under the front bonnet.
  • Relax & Audio Sonos Package: AGR-certified ergonomic seats with massage and ventilation, electric footrests and a 755 W Sonos premium sound system with 16 speakers specially developed for cabin acoustics.

3. Technology and connectivity

  • 13.6-inch center display: The largest vertical touchscreen ever installed in a Škoda.
  • Mobile Digital Key: Allows you to unlock and start your vehicle directly from your smartphone or smartwatch.
  • Bidirectional charging (V2L / Vehicle-to-Load): The car battery can be used as an external power source to power camping equipment, electric bicycles or other devices.
  • Dual Qi2 wireless charging (15W): With magnetic alignment for smartphones.

Engines, Batteries and Autonomy

Built on the MEB+ technical platform, the new Škoda Peaq is available in three main propulsion versions:

Version Drivetrain / Power Battery Capacity (Gross / Usable) WLTP Range Fast DC Charging (10–80%)
Peaq 60 RWD (Rear) / 150 kW (204 CP) 63 kWh / 59 kWh Up to 460 km ~27 min (145 kW)
Peaq 90 RWD (Rear) / 210 kW (286 CP) 91 kWh / 86 kWh Over 640 km 28 min (195 kW)
Peaq 90X Sportline AWD (4x4) / 220 kW (300 CP) 91 kWh / 86 kWh Up to 605 km 28 min (195 kW)

The variant equipped with the large 91 kWh gross battery (86 kWh useful) represents the largest storage capacity ever installed in a Škoda car.

Prices and Availability in Romania

The new Škoda Peaq is already available for order on the Romanian market:

  • Starting price (Peaq 60 Selection): from 49,721 euros (VAT included).
  • Top version price (Peaq 90X Sportline AWD): from approximately 61,461 – 62,000 euros (VAT included).

The first deliveries to customers in Romania are estimated to begin in late autumn and early winter 2026, positioning the new SUV as a direct and competitive competitor for models such as the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Kia EV9.
