Hyundai Bayon 2027, estimated prices in Romania, technical specifications, design and hybrid versions
The Paris Motor Show continues to be the scene of major premieres for the compact and urban segment. Among the top novelties presented at this year's edition is the new generation Hyundai Bayon, exhibited for the world premiere alongside the new Tucson. Strategically positioned as the second smallest SUV in the Korean manufacturer's European range - fitting perfectly between the ultra-compact Inster and the popular Kona -, the new Bayon marks a radical change in philosophy and design.
More muscular exterior design and new “Art of Steel” identity
If the first generation relied on rather rounded lines and a discreet minimalist approach, the new Hyundai Bayon completely changes the register. The subcompact crossover adopts a much more aggressive and muscular appearance, becoming the latest exponent of the sharp visual language Art of Steel.
- Front: It is dominated by sharp lines, pronounced edges and completely redesigned LED headlamps, whose daytime light signature takes the shape of the letter "L".
- Dynamic profile: The side wings are noticeably more flared, complemented by robust wheel arch and sill protections. The black-finished A- and D-pillars create the visual effect of a “floating roof”, accentuated by the option of a contrasting roof paint and the 18-inch alloy wheels. The color palette brings sophisticated shades such as Vibrant Matte Blue, Ice Matte Blue and Fierce Matte Red.
- N Line Package: For customers who want extra visual sportiness, Hyundai offers the dedicated N Line package, which brings restyled front and rear bumpers with aerodynamic elements, 18-inch wheels with an exclusive design, integrated air diffuser, dual-terminal exhaust and glossy black exterior accents.
Digitalized interior, panoramic curved screen and top-class comfort
The cabin of the new Bayon has undergone a complete digital and ergonomic revolution, offering a level of refinement rarely found in the subcompact segment.
- Panoramic architecture: The driving position is dominated by two curved screens measuring 12.3 inches each – one dedicated to the digital instrument cluster and the other to the latest generation multimedia system.
- Comfort and features: The list of options and standard equipment includes heated front and rear seats, ventilation function for the front seats, lumbar support for the driver, height adjustment, dual-zone automatic climate control, sophisticated ambient lighting and a panoramic glass roof.
- Connectivity and space: Inside, we find an induction charging pad for smartphones, two USB-C ports in the front, a USB-C port for rear passengers and a premium Bose audio system with 8 speakers. Thanks to an increased wheelbase compared to the previous generation, legroom for rear passengers has increased significantly. The trunk offers a generous volume of 440 liters in the thermal versions and 397 liters for the new hybrid variant.
Engine range: Absolute premiere of Full Hybrid propulsion
Under the hood, the new Hyundai Bayon offers a diverse range of options adapted to both urban efficiency and long-distance driving:
- Classic thermal engines (1.0 liter T-GDI): The model is available in a purely thermal gasoline version, offered in two power levels – 90 HP and 115 HP. As standard, both are coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission, with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) available as an option. The 90 HP version achieves 0-100 km/h in 14.1 seconds (top speed 167 km/h), while the 115 HP version reduces the time to 10.8 seconds (top speed 180 km/h).
- First Full Hybrid version: For the first time in the model's history, the Bayon receives a Full Hybrid propulsion system. It combines a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated thermal engine and an electric motor, delivering a cumulative power of 138 horsepower. This engine is offered exclusively in combination with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Regardless of the engine chosen, the new Bayon relies exclusively on front-wheel drive.
- Advanced safety systems: The technology package is complemented by modern assistance systems, including Highway Driving Assist 2, 360-degree surround view cameras, intelligent cruise control and advanced front and rear collision avoidance assistant.
Availability and estimated prices for the Romanian market
The new Hyundai Bayon for the European market will be produced at the manufacturer's plant in Turkey, ensuring a stable flow of deliveries to the dealer network on the continent.
- Launch in Romania: The commercial debut in showrooms in Romania is scheduled for next year, with the first units set to reach customers in the second half of 2027.
- Estimated prices: Although the brand representatives have not yet published official price lists, the positioning of the model in the European range suggests that the starting price for the basic versions with the 90 HP thermal engine will be around the 20,000 - 22,000 euro threshold (VAT included). Versions equipped with the new 138 HP Full Hybrid system or the higher equipment lines and the N Line package will most likely climb to the 25,000 - 28,000 euro range, offering an extremely attractive and competitive alternative in the subcompact crossover segment on the Romanian market.
