Lexus announces LEXUS Flight. Helicopter transportation service operated in partnership with Aero Toyota
A new era of 360° mobility. Starting August 24, 2026, the Japanese automaker is redefining the concept of premium travel in Japan, offering customers a complete mobility ecosystem that unites land, water and air.
Lexus continues to push the boundaries of the traditional automotive industry. The premium brand has officially announced the launch of LEXUS Flight, an exclusive helicopter air transportation service that will become operational on August 24, 2026.
Developed in strategic partnership with Aero Toyota, the new service will be available, at least initially, exclusively in the Japanese market. The Lexus helicopter's main purpose is to ensure fast and comfortable connections between major Japanese metropolises and the country's luxury tourist resorts.
The main goal of the project is to create an uninterrupted travel experience: customers will be able to combine land travel aboard the brand's cars with sailing aboard the luxury yacht LY680 and fast flight via LEXUS Flight, without having to resort to other third-party transportation providers.
Technical performance on Italian platform
At the heart of the new air service is a finely customized aircraft, built on the renowned Italian Leonardo AW169 platform.
The helicopter combines top technical performance with the reliability required by a premium brand:
- Propulsion: Two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW210A1 turboshaft engines.
- Maximum cruising speed: 267 km/h.
- Flight range: Up to 785 kilometers — an ideal distance for covering major intercity routes in Japan non-stop.
- Exterior dimensions: 14.65 meters long, 3.21 meters wide and 4.56 meters high.
Airborne refuge: Comfort inspired by the automotive world
The helicopter's interior has been designed as a natural extension of the cabin of Lexus' luxury SUVs. Finished in light tones, the cabin is optimized to accommodate up to 7 passengers in perfect comfort.
The relaxing atmosphere is complemented by the advanced technological package on board:
- Always-on connectivity: High-speed Wi-Fi access throughout the flight.
- Infotainment & Control: A dedicated tablet allows passengers to independently adjust ambient lighting, climate control and the multimedia system.
- Visual experience: Real-time video transmission provided by the aircraft's external cameras, along with a live flight path monitoring system.
Availability and prospects
For now, the LEXUS Flight service remains dedicated exclusively to the Japanese market. The manufacturer's representatives did not provide details regarding a possible expansion of the project to North America, Europe or other regions of the world.
Also, rental rates and specific costs for available routes are to be communicated closer to the official launch date.
