The wait is over, the new generation BMW 3 Series 2027 thermally debuts officially with Neue Klasse design and up to 443 HP
The launch of the new generation BMW 3 Series G50 2027 with combustion engines marks the transition of the most successful Bavarian sedan into a new visual and technological era. After the presentation of the all-electric version of the i3, the Munich-based manufacturer reveals the version equipped with electrified conventional powertrains, which borrows the new Neue Klasse aesthetic language and benefits from an advanced suite of digital assistance systems.
Exterior: Neue Klasse language redefined for combustion engines
Aesthetically, the new generation of the mid-size sedan is almost identical to its electric sibling, the BMW i3. The main visual difference lies in the active front grille, redesigned to ensure the necessary airflow to cool the internal combustion engines.
The body is characterised by an aerodynamic silhouette, sharp edges and smooth surfaces. The door handles are now fully integrated into the bodywork, and the slim LED headlights receive a new light signature, with optional M Yellow Lights inspired by motor racing.
The dimensions of the new sedan increase slightly compared to the previous generation, offering a more imposing presence on the road:
- Length: 4,765 mm
- Width: 1,850 mm
- Height: 1,455 mm
- Wheelbase: 2,860 mm
The rear end maintains the theme of firm lines, dominated by horizontal LED taillights with new internal graphics. The thermal version will be equipped with alloy wheels ranging in size from 18 to 20 inches (compared to 19 to 21 inches on the electric i3).
For customers who want a more aggressive look, the M Sport Package and M Sport Package Pro are available, along with an exclusive launch color, M Blue Le Castellet metallic. The range of BMW Individual paint finishes will be expanded in 2027.
Digitalized interior: BMW Panoramic iDrive and BMW OS X
The interior of the new 3 Series fully adopts the digital architecture of the i3 model, emphasizing ergonomics and touch or voice controls.
The centerpiece of the dashboard is the BMW Panoramic iDrive system, composed of:
- BMW Panoramic Vision: A thin screen projected at the base of the windshield across its entire width;
- Trapezoidal central display: With a 17.9-inch diagonal and high resolution;
- Head-Up Display 3D: Provides three-dimensional graphics directly in the driver's field of vision;
- Multifunction steering wheel: With a completely new design and touch control surfaces.
The system is supported by BMW Operating System X, equipped with an intelligent personal assistant based on artificial intelligence and direct Amazon Alexa+ integration. The driver has 4 My Modes options available for configuring the interior ambience and graphics on the screens.
Standard equipment includes electrically adjustable, heated seats with memory function and the Travel & Comfort accessory system. Optionally, M Sport seats, heated rear seats and a Harman Kardon premium audio system can be ticked. The sedan's luggage compartment offers a volume of 450 liters.
Three mild-hybrid versions at debut: From 167 HP to 443 HP
All launch versions of the new BMW 3 Series are equipped as standard with 48V mild-hybrid technology and an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
The range is structured in three power levels, covering both efficiency and pure performance requirements:
- BMW 318: The entry-level variant uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, developing 167 hp and 250 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 215 km/h.
- BMW 320: Also equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo unit, this model delivers 222 hp and 330 Nm. Performance figures include a 0–100 km/h sprint in 7.4 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h.
- BMW M350 xDrive: The top of the range M Performance series is powered by a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine capable of 443 hp and 540 Nm. Connected to the all-wheel drive system, the model reaches 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h.

Advanced technologies and assistance systems: BMW Symbiotic Drive
The new 3 Series integrates the BMW Symbiotic Drive technology package, designed for intuitive interaction between the driver and the car's algorithms. The sedan offers Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities.
The star system is Motorway Assistant, which allows autonomous driving on the highway without hands on the wheel at speeds of up to 130 km/h (where permitted by law), managing lane keeping, distance from the vehicle in front and assisted lane changing by simply looking at the driver in the appropriate rearview mirror.
