The revival of the PIXO name, an electric city car developed on a common platform
Nissan has officially revealed the next generation of its PIXO, a fully electric vehicle designed for urban use that becomes the most affordable zero-emission model in the brand’s European portfolio. The project marks the return of the PIXO name to the manufacturer’s lineup, after the name was previously used between 2009 and 2013 for a mini-class car.
Developed within the strategic alliance, the new Nissan PIXO shares its technical platform with the new Renault Twingo E-Tech and Dacia Spring. Production of the new model will be concentrated on the French group's assembly line in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.
"Robot Face" exterior design and compact dimensions
Although it shares structural elements with related models, the new Nissan PIXO benefits from its own aesthetic identity. The body lines adopt the visual concept called "Robot Face", characterized by clean surfaces and a technological look.
Representative exterior elements include:
- Distinctive light signature: The compact headlights integrate LED daytime running lights in the shape of the number 7, with a graphic pattern inspired by the structure of pixels. The rear axle adopts a similar philosophy for the optical units.
- Urban proportions: The length measures 3,796 mm, the width is 1,790 mm, the height reaches 1,512 mm, and the wheelbase totals 2,492 mm.
- Customization: The color palette includes striking visual options like Wonder Violet and Gear Blue hues.
Minimalist interior, physical ergonomics and optimized cargo space
The interior combines the modern lines of a digitalized driving position with classic ergonomic solutions. The dashboard integrates a 7-inch screen for the digital instruments and a 10-inch central screen dedicated to the multimedia system.
For quick access while driving, the climate control controls have been retained as physical buttons located directly below the central display. The transmission selector has been moved to the steering column, behind the steering wheel, freeing up space on the console between the seats. The air vents are framed by red decorative trim that contrasts with the rest of the materials.
In terms of utility, PIXO provides:
- Storage spaces in the cabin: Total volume of up to 18 liters distributed in practical compartments.
- Boot: Standard capacity of 356 litres, of which a dedicated 50 litres is under the floor for the charging cable.
- Folding the rear seats: The usable volume increases to a maximum of 1,221 liters.
Technology Premiere: Google Assistant Gemini and Standard Assistance Features
The new Nissan PIXO introduces an absolute first for the European A-segment by integrating the native Google Gemini AI-based assistant into the infotainment system. It enables more natural interaction through advanced voice commands and connectivity adapted to today's demands.
The standard equipment offers an extensive package of safety and assistance technologies:
- One-Pedal Technology: Allows acceleration and braking to a complete stop using only the accelerator pedal, optimizing energy recovery.
- ADAS systems included: Adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning system and automatic parking function.
82 HP engine, LFP battery and WLTP range of 259 km
The new Nissan PIXO is powered by a single electric motor mounted on the front axle, developing 82 hp. For the first time in a Nissan electric model sold in Europe, energy is stored in a Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 27.5 kWh.
The efficiency of the assembly ensures a homologated range of 259 kilometers in the WLTP cycle, sufficient for daily commuting and peri-urban travel.
The recharging system supports fast direct current (DC) stations with a power of up to 50 kW, allowing the battery to be charged from 15% to 80% in a span of 28 minutes.
Price and availability estimates for the Romanian market
The manufacturer will communicate the official price list for European markets in December, and the first deliveries to customers are scheduled to begin in early 2027.
For the Romanian market, the new model will position itself as a direct alternative in the electrified city vehicle segment:
- Estimated starting price: The entry-level version is expected to have a starting price in the range of 18,000 - 20,000 euros (without subsidies), placing it competitively among the volume models in the segment.
- Local availability: The opening of pre-order lists and the first allocations for the dealer network in Romania will take place in the first half of 2027.
