Hyundai reveals technical details of the new Tucson 2027. How much will the compact SUV cost in Romania

A new chapter for the Hyundai Tucson, the first technical details and the radical design change

Exterior and interior design – “Art of Steel” style. Hyundai has officially presented in South Korea the new generation of the Tucson SUV, a model that brings a substantial change in aesthetic vision. Designed according to the new Art of Steel visual language, the car adopts predominantly square shapes and a futuristic silhouette.

The front is marked by a thin LED strip that runs almost the entire width of the vehicle, flanked by two vertical optical blocks. The profile is outlined by flared wings protected by massive black elements, while the rear adopts the same light signature for the LED taillights. Inside, the cabin is almost completely digitalized, being dominated by a thin instrument cluster and a large central multimedia screen.

Performance and engines – 242 hp hybrid and turbo petrol option

The technical details of the new Tucson were revealed during the presentation of the brand's new development strategy for the next four years.

The powertrain lineup is led by a hybrid version with a 1.6-liter engine, which delivers 242 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque. The new configuration allows a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds, being 0.3 seconds faster than the generation it replaces.

The classic alternative is a purely thermal petrol unit, a 1.6-liter turbo. This offers 27% less power and 43% less torque compared to the hybrid version, requiring 9.5 seconds to reach 100 km/h.

Price and availability on the Romanian market

The new Hyundai Tucson will begin its commercial career in the South Korean market in the last quarter of this year, while the launch in global markets is scheduled for 2027.

In Romania, the new model is expected to reach the distributor network in the first half of 2027. Taking into account the evolution of prices in the segment and the contribution of technology, the starting values are estimated as follows:

  • 1.6 Turbo Petrol version: estimated price between €29,000 and €31,000 (VAT included).
  • 1.6 Hybrid version (242 HP): estimated price between €34,500 and €37,500 (VAT included), differentiated according to the equipment level and type of drive (front or all-wheel drive).

Applying bonuses from the Rabla Program or promotional launch discounts could reduce the purchase price by 2,000 - 3,000 euros.
