How much will the new 1.350 hp Tesla Roadster cost, estimated prices, previews and details about the rocket versions
Shortly after the spectacular presentation that marked the return of the long-awaited second generation Tesla Roadster, the American manufacturer lifts the curtain on some astonishing technical details. The new performance model not only aims to redefine the limits of electric mobility, but also pursues an absolute goal: to become the fastest production car in the history of the automotive industry, targeting a top speed of 530 km/h.
Leading-edge electrical architecture and performance: Up to 1,350 horsepower
The new generation Roadster relies on enviable dynamics, being designed on an extremely lightweight platform, with a total mass below the threshold of 1,700 kilograms.
- Engine configuration: Both main versions of the model are equipped with a propulsion system based on two electric motors.
- Standard version: Develops a power of 1,073 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,200 Nm.
- Performance version: Takes the stakes to a higher level, offering approximately 1,350 horsepower and 1,400 Nm of torque.
- Range and power supply: The declared range varies between 500 and 515 kilometers, depending on the version. In addition, the high-voltage architecture will allow a charging power of up to 500 kW, making it possible to charge the battery from 10% to 80% in less than 15 minutes.
Extreme innovation: Thrust and Rocket versions with compressed air propulsion
In addition to classic configurations, Tesla takes the concept of performance into science fiction territory by introducing unique technology packages, directly inspired by space rocket technology.
- Thrust version: Integrates four compressed air (cold gas) engines and a special tank, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than a second.
- Rocket Version (Absolute Top): This extreme edition features six compressed air motors. To make room for the additional air tank, the front passenger seat is completely removed. This is the configuration that can effectively lift the car off the ground (“fly”) for a few seconds and promises a breathtaking acceleration from 0 to 96 km/h in just 0.59 seconds.
Ultimate target: Top speed of 530 km/h to break any record
Although in conventional road driving mode the model is credited with performances that are already difficult to match, the management of the American company has unprecedented ambitions in terms of aerodynamics and final speed.
- Brand officials have confirmed that a dedicated version is planned that has as its absolute target reaching the threshold of 330 miles per hour, the equivalent of 531 km/h.
- If this goal is fully achieved in series production, the next-generation Tesla Roadster will shatter all world records ever set by a production vehicle, surpassing any thermal or electric competition.
Production, advances and estimated prices
Designed to officially enter the production phase starting in 2028, the new supercar can already be pre-ordered by interested customers, with the brand's commercial policy reflecting the extreme exclusivity of the vehicle through considerable amounts deposited in advance.
- Reservation system: For the Performance version, customers must pay a deposit of $50,000, while for the advanced Thrust version the advance deposit increases to $250,000. The extreme Rocket version will be distributed on an ultra-exclusive, invitation-only basis.
- Estimated purchase prices: Even though the final price lists for the entire global and European market have not yet been officially finalized, the structure of advances and the level of avant-garde technology outline a clear picture of the costs. The starting price for the basic and Performance versions is estimated to be around $ 250,000, while the top packages equipped with aerospace technologies (Thrust and limited special editions) will certainly exceed the threshold of $ 350,000 - 450,000 (or the equivalent in euros, with local taxes included), transforming the new Roadster into a collector's item destined for the most select garages in the world.
