Xiaomi debuts on the EREV SUV market with the new Skynomad. Up to 505 km of electric range and an interior that transforms into a mobile office
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is aggressively expanding its presence in the automotive industry by officially launching the new Xiaomi Skynomad on the domestic market. Unlike the 100% electric sedan SU7, the new Skynomad adopts an EREV (Extended-Range Electric Vehicle) architecture, using a combustion engine acting exclusively as an energy generator for the battery pack.
Built like a full-size SUV, the model brings an attractive mix of extended range, cutting-edge technology, and an extremely versatile interior space.
Exterior design: Sober lines at the front, the rear brings the visual spectacle
The exterior of the new Xiaomi Skynomad features a discreet yet imposing profile. Its massive proportions and straight lines emphasize maximizing the space in the cabin.
- Front: Maintains a conservative aesthetic. The area where a traditional grille would normally be located is replaced by a smooth panel bearing the model name. The headlights integrate LED daytime running lights with a distinctive hammer-shaped light signature, and the bumper houses functional air intakes.
- Rear: Adds a touch of dynamism. Slim LED taillights almost completely surround the central panel with the vehicle name. The ensemble is completed by an integrated roof spoiler and a protective shield mounted in the rear bumper.
Digitalized interior: Flexible living room and 180-degree mobile office
The cabin of the new Skynomad redefines on-board comfort through a minimalist philosophy and a high level of digitalization:
- Multiple screens: The dashboard includes dedicated screens for the digital instrumentation and multimedia system, as well as a screen for rear passengers. A larger display dedicated to watching movies descends from the ceiling.
- 180° rotating seats: The front seats can be rotated completely rearward, transforming the passenger compartment into a mobile office or relaxation area.
Dimensions and versions: N70 and N90
Xiaomi offers the Skynomad SUV in two body styles, adapted to different space needs:

Electric propulsion with 1.5 liter heat generator
The technical platform relies on energy efficiency and high mixed autonomy:
- Mechanical: In the standard version, the Skynomad comes with a single electric motor on the rear axle, with the option of two electric motors and all-wheel drive also available.
- Thermal generator: Under the hood is a 1.5-liter, 150 HP gasoline engine that does not directly drive the wheels, but functions strictly as a generator to charge the battery.
- Batteries: Two battery variants are proposed: one of 52 kWh (lithium-ion) and one of 76 kWh (NMC type).
- Electric range (CLTC): The 76 kWh battery provides an electric range of 505 kilometers for the N70 version and 464 kilometers for the larger N90 version.
- Fast charging: The 76 kWh battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
Prices and estimates for the Romanian market
On the Chinese market, the Xiaomi Skynomad N70 version equipped with the 76 kWh battery has a starting price equivalent to approximately 33,500 euros. The manufacturer has not yet specified whether the model will also be sold in European markets.
If Xiaomi decides to bring the model to Europe, the additional costs of international shipping, approval, customs duties and VAT (19% in Romania) will influence the final price.
- Estimated price in Romania: A possible launch on the local market could place the N70 version at an estimated starting price between €45,000 and €50,000, while the extended N90 variant could reach a threshold of €52,000 - €57,000.
