Volvo is preparing 7 new models for Europe and the US - what the Swedes' plan for the coming years entails
The biggest product offensive in the last decade. The Swedes at Volvo are preparing a profound transformation of their vehicle portfolio, announcing the launch of 13 new models by 2030. This strategy marks the Gothenburg-based manufacturer's largest expansion in the last ten years and aims to both strengthen its global presence and penetrate completely new market segments.
Of the total of 13 vehicles:
- 7 models for Western markets: Designed specifically for Europe and the United States, these will be built on the advanced SPA2 and SPA3 technological architectures.
- 6 models dedicated to the Chinese market: Developed and assembled in strategic partnership with the Geely group.
The proposed range will not be limited exclusively to 100% electric vehicles with zero emissions, but will also include a new generation of hybrid powertrains, adapted to the transitional requirements of customers in various regions.
Simplifying the range and redefining the business model
The new model offensive complements the latest updates to the current portfolio. These include revised versions of the XC40, EX40, EC40 and XC60 models, along with the introduction of new plug-in hybrid powertrains for the XC60 mid-size SUV and the flagship XC90.
With the launch of new products, Volvo aims to fundamentally change the traditional sales model. The company will focus on:
- Tariff transparency: Clear and predictable pricing policies.
- Simplified offers: Feature packages that are easier to configure.
- Fast deliveries: Streamlining logistics processes to reduce waiting time for customers.
