XPeng L03 debuts in Romania with up to 431 HP and over 1,000 km of autonomy
A new competitor in the mid-range electric SUV segment. Officially launched earlier this year, the new XPeng L03 marks the expansion of the manufacturer's range on the Romanian market. The new model adopts an aerodynamic SUV coupe body, combining dynamic proportions with a modern suite of propulsion technologies.
For local customers, the model is offered in an extremely diverse range structure, comprising five levels of equipment and performance. The offer includes both 100% electric variants with one or two drive axles, as well as an option equipped with an extended range propulsion system (EREV).
Four all-electric options: From Standard to Performance Ultra
The all-electric range of the new XPeng L03 is designed to cover various requirements regarding autonomy and dynamic performance:
- Standard Range: This is the entry-level version of the range. It is equipped with a single electric motor located on the rear axle, developing 222 HP. The system is powered by a 58.2 kWh LFP (Lithium-Iron-Phosphate) battery, offering a certified range of up to 445 kilometers in the WLTP cycle. The starting price is 36,990 euros.
- Long Range Plus: It increases the power threshold to 249 hp (also with rear-wheel drive) and benefits from an extended 71.1 kWh battery. Equipped as standard with aerodynamically optimized 18-inch wheels, this model offers the longest electric range in the range, reaching 520 kilometers (WLTP). The price of this version starts at 40,090 euros.
- Long Range Ultra: Keeps the 249 hp mechanical configuration and 71.1 kWh battery, but adds higher equipment and 20-inch alloy wheels. Due to the increased size of the wheels, the WLTP range is adjusted to 480 kilometers. The starting price is 44,590 euros.
- Performance Ultra: This is the most powerful and fastest option of the model. Equipped with two electric motors and all-wheel drive, this version develops a total power of 431 hp. The 71.1 kWh battery provides a range of 440 kilometers in the WLTP cycle, and the starting price is set at 48,490 euros.
PowerX Technology: Over 1,000 km of range combined with EREV system
In addition to the purely electric variants, XPeng is also introducing the PowerX Long Range version on the Romanian market, equipped with a range-extended propulsion system (EREV).
This configuration uses a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that operates exclusively as an electric generator for the battery, without having a direct mechanical connection to the wheels. Propulsion is provided entirely by a 242 hp electric motor. The dedicated battery has a capacity of 37.2 kWh, allowing a purely electric range of 215 kilometers. In combination with the fuel tank, the total range reaches 1,017 kilometers. The PowerX Long Range version is available from 39,990 euros.
Exterior design: Fluid SUV coupe lines and advanced aerodynamics
The new XPeng L03 stands out with a sleek SUV coupe silhouette, designed not only to attract attention but also to optimize energy efficiency. The front end adopts the brand's signature stylistic identity, defined by the continuous LED light strip and the main optical units discreetly integrated into the bumper.
The side lines are clean and fluid, accentuated by the retractable door handles, which retract into the bodywork when driving. The plunging roofline connects harmoniously with the rear, where a discreet spoiler and a transverse LED strip complete the sporty look. The aerodynamic design directly contributes to reducing the coefficient of drag, thus maximizing highway range.
Interior design and comfort: Modern minimalism and generous space
The XPeng L03's interior adopts a minimalist philosophy, eliminating most physical controls in favor of a clean digital interface. The dashboard is dominated by a large central screen, and the lack of a traditional gearshift on the center console frees up additional storage space.
Long-distance driving behavior is supported by equipment geared towards the comfort of all passengers:
- Premium materials: Soft-touch surfaces, high-quality eco-leather upholstery, and carefully assembled finishes.
- Panoramic glass roof: Extends over almost the entire roof surface, providing a high level of brightness and a feeling of airy space.
- Ergonomic seats: Equipped with electric adjustments, optimized lumbar support and heating and ventilation functions on higher versions.
- Advanced soundproofing: The use of soundproof double glazing substantially reduces rolling and aerodynamic noise.
Leading technologies and smart connectivity
The XPeng L03 is designed as a Software-Defined Vehicle, based on an advanced electronic architecture that allows for periodic remote updates (Over-The-Air - OTA) for almost all of the car's systems.
The integrated technology package includes:
- Dedicated operating system: Provides fast menu navigation, instant touch response, and native smartphone integration.
- Intelligent voice assistant: Capable of recognizing complex commands from different areas of the cabin and controlling the climate control, windows or media system.
- Immersive audio system: High-fidelity multiple speaker configuration, calibrated for spatial acoustic distribution.
- Wireless charging station: Dedicated space for your mobile phone with fast charging and integrated cooling system to prevent the device from overheating.
Safety and advanced driver assistance systems
Safety is a central pillar for the XPeng L03. The vehicle uses a hybrid structure of high-strength steel and aluminum, designed to effectively absorb and dissipate energy in the event of an impact.
The model is equipped with a full suite of sensors – ultrasonic sensors, millimeter-wave radars and high-resolution video cameras – that power the ADAS active assistance package:
- Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB): With detection of pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles at intersections.
- Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering: Maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front and keeps the vehicle in the center of the lane.
- Blind Spot Monitoring and Cross Traffic Alert: Warns the driver of other vehicles in hard-to-see areas or when reversing out of a parking space.
- Automatic Parking Assist: Allows the SUV to autonomously park in tight spaces, both parallel and perpendicular.
Charging architecture and V2L function
The 100% electric versions of the XPeng L03 benefit from fast charging capabilities at DC (direct current) stations, allowing the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes, under optimal conditions.
In addition, the vehicle offers V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology, which allows the main propulsion battery to provide electricity to a 220V outlet for external devices – from camping appliances and sports equipment, to power tools or charging other light electric vehicles.
