When it comes to Ferrari’s select club of customers, exclusivity reaches levels that are hard to match in the global automotive industry. The Maranello-based manufacturer’s Special Projects program offers its most dedicated collectors the opportunity to turn their own visions into reality, building completely unique (One-Off) cars. The latest masterpiece to emerge from this program is the Ferrari CZ26.
Developed specifically for a client in the United States and conceived by the Ferrari Design Studio under the careful guidance of Design Director Flavio Manzoni, the new CZ26 represents a highly personal vision of the supersport sedan concept, reintroduced through an essential, technological and deeply future-oriented language.
A revolutionary exterior design inspired by the 70s
Built on the technical platform of the SF90 Stradale model, the new CZ26 abandons classic lines in favor of a completely new exterior design, defined by a distinct two-box silhouette and a strongly horizontal stylistic theme.
The car appears to be sculpted from a single block of material, with a pure, capsule-like central mass visually supported by the four muscular elements of the wheel arches. The entire aesthetic and functional approach reinterprets the principles of the great examples of Italian industrial design from the 1970s through a modern lens.
- Front: Dominated by a functional full-width grille that integrates ultra-slim lighting units with a hidden effect, air intakes for the brake system and advanced technical components. The vertical leading edge emphasizes the car's bold presence.
- Rear: Features a truncated design (kamm tail) and console-mounted taillights, providing a sculptural and lightweight silhouette. The rear diffuser has a pronounced horizontal design, visually increasing the width of the car and enhancing stability at high speeds.
- Colour and finishes: The bodywork is finished in the exclusive Argento Veloce shade – a liquid-effect silver that emphasises the complexity of the surfaces – combined with contrasting Rosso Lampante accents and pigmented carbon fibre elements. Bi-colour wheels (gloss black and fine sandblasted) and titanium exhausts with a natural finish complete the high-performance technical look.
High-tech cabin and personalized refinement
The interior faithfully follows the exterior color theme. The black-finished ceiling and pillars create the illusion of a dedicated cockpit, seamlessly integrated into the bodywork.
The focal point of the cabin is a distinctive black technical fabric, complemented by 3D-printed seat inserts with a pattern created exclusively for this example. The CZ26 logo is discreetly embroidered to underline the ultimate level of personalisation.
The contrast between the matte surfaces of the textile material, the satin carbon fiber and the special carbon fiber with metal filaments woven into the structure provides a futuristic atmosphere, complemented by body-colored elements on the door panels and the upper part of the dashboard.
Devastating performance: 1,000 horsepower
Under the unique bodywork, the CZ26 retains the dynamic DNA and top performance of the SF90 Stradale, relying on a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) propulsion system:
- Engine: 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8.
- Total power: 1,000 horsepower.
- Acceleration 0–100 km/h: 2.5 seconds.
- Maximum speed: 328 km/h.
- Electric range: The 7.9 kWh battery allows for silent driving of up to 25 kilometers in purely electric mode.
To cope with these impressive figures, the aerodynamics have been completely rethought. The front radiator package has been reoriented and bypass ducts have been introduced to optimise both cooling and downforce on the front axle. An air curtain system manages the flow generated by the front wheels, while the new upper rear spoiler and revised diffuser guarantee impeccable aerodynamic efficiency in any driving scenario.
The Ferrari CZ26 thus remains living proof of how elite engineering from Maranello can accommodate the wildest dreams of a passionate collector.
How much does a unique dream cost? Financial estimate for the Ferrari CZ26
Although the Maranello-based manufacturer maintains complete discretion and never publishes the exact amounts involved in the Special Projects program, industry specialists and international automotive publications estimate that the price of such a unique (One-Off) model amounts to at least 6 million dollars (over 5.5 million euros), which may increase depending on the complexity of the client's requirements.
To understand where such a large sum comes from, one must analyze the complex process behind such a machine:
- Donor platform: The starting point is the complex plug-in hybrid system of an SF90 Stradale, whose base value is over $530,000.
- Massive R&D (Research and Development) costs: Unlike a classic limited series, where design costs are divided across hundreds of units, in the case of a One-Off like the CZ26, all engineering costs, unique molds, wind tunnel tests and homologation are borne entirely by a single buyer.
- Two-year production cycle: The project required approximately two years of close collaboration between the client, the Ferrari Design Studio (under the direction of Flavio Manzoni) and the engineers in Maranello. Every carbon fiber exterior panel, redesigned aerodynamic elements, exclusive wheels and 3D-printed interior finishes were created from scratch exclusively for this example.
- Entry ticket to the elite: In addition to the actual cost of production, the price reflects the ultimate exclusivity of the 1-of-1 label, making these cars instantly highly valuable collector's items in the garages of the world's most important collectors.
Essentially, the price paid by the US customer does not just represent the value of the metal and technology taken from the SF90, but the cost of absolute exclusivity: that of owning the only example on Earth that carries your direct vision of a Ferrari supercar.
