Cupra Raval enters the Romanian market: Prices, versions and features for the electric "brother" of the ID.Polo

The Spaniards from Cupra are placing a new strong bet on the electric vehicle market in Europe. Officially presented at the beginning of April, the new Cupra Raval officially opens its order books on the Romanian market as well. Developed as a platform sibling to the future Volkswagen ID.Polo (ID.2) on the group's MEB Small architecture, the Raval instantly becomes the most affordable zero-emission model in the performance brand's portfolio, promising a rebellious design, sporty dynamics and an extremely competitive price.

Four trim levels, all with front-wheel drive

The new urban electric hot-hatch comes to Romania with a clear strategy, offering four equipment versions adapted to different budgets and performance preferences: Raval, Raval Plus, Endurance and VZ. All variants use a configuration with a single electric motor located on the front axle, ensuring front-wheel drive.

Here's how the engine and battery options are divided in the new model range:

  • Cupra Raval (Base Version): Starting with a 115 hp engine and a 37 kWh battery, this variant promises a flexible urban range of up to 311 kilometers (WLTP).
  • Cupra Raval Plus: It ups the ante to 135 HP, keeping the same 37 kWh battery, but optimizations allow it a slightly increased range, up to 323 kilometers.
  • Cupra Raval Endurance: This is the version designed for those who prioritize long distances. It comes with a generous power of 211 HP and is equipped with the larger 52 kWh battery. The result is a range of up to 445 kilometers on a single charge.
  • Cupra Raval VZ: It represents the top of the range, purely focused on performance. It has 226 HP powered by the same 52 kWh battery. Due to the dynamic settings, the range is 386 kilometers, but the performance figures are impressive: the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in just 6.8 seconds, and the top speed reaches 175 km/h.

Recharging system: Regardless of the battery capacity chosen (37 kWh or 52 kWh), the new Cupra Raval supports fast charging at DC stations with powers up to 105 kW, ensuring a quick power supply on long journeys.

Prices and standard features for Romania

Speaking of prices, the new Cupra Raval starts in Romania at 25,985 euros including VAT for the basic version. For those aiming for the top performance offered by the VZ version, the bill starts at 37,038 euros including VAT.

The list of assistance systems offered as standard is equally generous and includes:

The new Cupra Raval vs. the main competitors

To see where the new Spanish model places itself in the current market, we analyzed the long-distance version (Raval Endurance) in relation to its main rivals in the segment, the Renault 5 E-Tech and the Mini Cooper SE.

Model / Version Power (HP) Range (km, WLTP) 0-100 km/h Acceleration (seconds) List Price* (Euro, incl. VAT)
Cupra Raval Endurance (52 kWh) 211 445 7.1 35,252
Renault 5 E-Tech Iconiq Cinq (52 kWh) 150 408 N/A 33,450
Mini Cooper SE (49.2 kWh) 218 400 6.7 31,500

Prices represent official list values, without the application of any government eco-bonuses (such as the Rabla Plus program) or seasonal promotional offers.

Through this mix of aggressive design with urban DNA, an extremely competitive starting price and a rich list of safety technologies offered as standard, the new Cupra Raval has all the arguments to become an extremely popular presence on the streets of Romania.
