Renault confirms the launch date of the new Trafic E-Tech. Impact in Romania and Price Estimates

Trafic E-Tech ready for launch: Renault officially announces the date

Renault has officially confirmed the launch date for the next generation of its successful utility model, the Trafic E-Tech, marking a major step in the electrification of its light commercial vehicle (LCV) range. The world presentation of the production version will take place on November 18, 2025 at the prestigious Solutrans event in Lyon, France.

Trafic E-Tech is not just an electric adaptation of the existing model, but a completely new vehicle, developed under the umbrella of Ampere, the electric division of the Renault Group, and promises to bring significant innovations to the market.

800V Architecture and Advanced Performance

One of the most notable features of the new Trafic E-Tech is the integration of an 800-volt charging architecture. This technology, typical of premium electric vehicles, ensures ultra-fast charging times:

  • Charge from 15% to 80% battery in just 20 minutes, an essential feature for professionals who depend on minimal downtime.

Under the hood, the van will be equipped with a powerful electric motor with 204 horsepower and 345 Nm of torque, suggesting superior dynamic performance, especially necessary for freight transport.

Battery Life and Versions

At launch, Renault will offer two battery options to suit the diverse needs of professionals:

  • Standard Version: LFP (Lithium-Iron-Phosphate) battery with an estimated range of 350 kilometers in WLTP mode.
  • Long Range version: NMC (Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt) battery that will ensure a longer range of approximately 450 kilometers in WLTP mode, ideal for longer distances.

Note: The range and performance figures mentioned in the initial press release (350 km and 450 km, 204 hp) refer to the next-generation model to be unveiled. These figures exceed those of the current Trafic Van E-Tech version, which uses a 52 kWh battery and offers a WLTP range of up to 297 km, with a 90 kW (122 hp) engine. The new model therefore promises a significant technological leap.

Production of the new Trafic E-Tech is scheduled to start at the Renault plant in Sandouville, France, and sales are expected to start in 2026.

The New E-Tech Traffic in Romania: Price and Impact

The Renault Trafic model is extremely popular on the Romanian commercial vehicle market, being a mainstay of many company fleets. The introduction of the new generation E-Tech version will be a crucial moment for the transition of local fleets to electric mobility.

Estimated Price and Market Context

Although the official price for the new Trafic E-Tech with 800V architecture will most likely be announced around the commercial launch in 2026, we can make an estimate based on the current Trafic Van E-Tech electric model (90 kW engine, 52 kWh battery, 294 km range) already available on the Romanian market.

  • The current price (VAT included) for the basic Trafic Van E-Tech version in Romania is around EUR 40,000 - 45,000 (without applying Rabla Plus subsidies).

Given the superior technology (800V architecture, 204 hp engine, extended range), the new Renault Trafic E-Tech is expected to have a starting price, before subsidies, probably between 45,000 and 55,000 EUR (VAT included) for the standard version.

Opportunities in Romania

The launch of the new model will most likely be supported by the government program Rabla Plus, which offers significant subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles, including commercial vehicles.

  1. Reduced Operating Costs: Romanian companies will benefit from much lower maintenance and "fuel" (electricity) costs compared to diesel models.
  2. Access to Urban Areas: Using an electric commercial vehicle eliminates access restrictions in city centers that might be imposed, making it essential for "last mile" deliveries.
  3. Eco-Friendly Image: Adopting Trafic E-Tech allows companies to strengthen their environmentally responsible brand image.

The new Renault Trafic E-Tech, with the promise of increased autonomy and ultra-fast charging, is ideally positioned to become a strong competitor in the electric LCV segment in Romania, accelerating the electrification of commercial fleets.
