Nissan Returns Strongly to the Romanian Market: A Portfolio Focused on SUVs and Electrification
Japanese Offensive on the SUV Segment: Nissan returns to Romania, focus on Qashqai, Juke and X-Trail
Japanese manufacturer Nissan is marking a strategic relaunch on the Romanian automotive market, under a new distribution structure aimed at strengthening the brand's presence and responding to the growing demand for modern, electrified vehicles.
New Distribution Structure: NSN RO
The relaunch comes with the establishment of the new local legal entity, NSN RO, a joint venture formed by two major international players: AutoWallis Group (Hungary) and Salvador Caetano Group (Portugal). This alliance takes over the full import, distribution, sales and after-sales activities, signaling a long-term commitment to the local market.
NSN RO took over the existing network, consisting of 18 dealers and 26 authorized service centers, thus ensuring continuity of services for Nissan customers.
Model Portfolio: Three SUVs, Two Utility Vehicles
The initial portfolio focuses on the most popular segments in Romania, emphasizing innovation and electrification:
- Nissan Qashqai: The original crossover, available with mild-hybrid engines and the innovative e-POWER propulsion system. The e-POWER system offers an electric driving experience, but without the need for plug-in charging, with the petrol engine acting exclusively as a generator to power the battery and electric motor.
- Nissan Juke: The urban crossover coupé with a distinctive design, offered in petrol and hybrid (HEV) versions.
- Nissan X-Trail : The family SUV, available with e-POWER 2WD and e-4ORCE 4WD (electric all-wheel drive) technologies, dedicated to those seeking adventure and space.
In addition to the range of passenger cars, NSN RO also introduces the range of Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV), through the Nissan Townstar and Nissan Interstar Van models.
Commitments and Future Vision
The relaunch comes with a number of competitive benefits:
- Extended Warranty: Up to 6 years, unlimited mileage, for the Crossover range and 5 years or 160,000 km for commercial vehicles.
- Electric Innovation: The portfolio highlights the shift towards sustainable mobility, delivering Nissan's hybrid and electric technologies.
The medium-term vision is ambitious. NSN RO management confirmed that, starting with 2026, the offer will be expanded with 100% electric models, such as the new generation Nissan Leaf and the compact Micra model (developed in partnership with Renault), thus strengthening the brand's position in the EV segment.
"The future of Nissan in Romania is driven by innovation. We are proud to relaunch this iconic brand and offer Romanian customers access to modern, safe and sustainable mobility." - Ionuț Lupu, General Manager NSN RO.
In conclusion, Nissan's comeback, supported by strong partners and a portfolio focused on innovative SUVs and electrification, promises to bring new dynamics to the Romanian automotive market.
