The electric revolution from Stuttgart arrives in Romania: The new electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class, available from 63,990 euros
The Stuttgart-based manufacturer is decisively stepping on the electrification pedal and bringing one of the most anticipated models in the premium segment to the Romanian market. Officially presented in mid-April, the new electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class can now be configured and officially ordered by local customers.
For now, the zero-emission sedan is available in a single engine version, but the figures promised by the Germans are designed to completely eliminate "range anxiety" and directly attack long-standing rivals in the category.
Top performance and autonomy of over 750 km
The debut version available in Romania bears the designation C 400 4Matic electric. Underneath the aerodynamic silhouette with flowing lines lies an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, developed on a platform dedicated to electric vehicles, which radically optimizes interior space and charging times.
Here are the main technical features of the new model:
- Maximum power: 489 hp, delivered via two electric motors.
- Drivetrain: All-wheel drive (4Matic), equipped with a decoupling unit (DCU) that almost instantly disconnects the engine from the front axle at low loads, maximizing efficiency.
- Transmission: An innovative two-speed gearbox on the rear axle, optimised for blistering acceleration from a standstill and aerodynamic efficiency at motorway speeds.
- Acceleration (0-100 km/h): Fixed 4.0 seconds.
- Battery: 94 kWh usable capacity with NMC lithium-ion cells.
- Maximum range: Up to 753 kilometers in WLTP combined mode.
When it comes to recharging, thanks to the DC system that supports powers of up to 330 kW at ultra-fast stations (such as the IONITY network), the electric C-Class can accumulate energy for 325 kilometers in just 10 minutes of parking.
Interior SF technology and predictive dynamics
Beyond the dynamic figures, Mercedes-Benz brings to the electric C-Class design and technology elements taken directly from its larger siblings in the range. The wheelbase increased by almost 10 centimeters offers considerably more legroom in the rear compared to the traditional combustion version.
Optionally, the dashboard can be dominated by the revolutionary MBUX Hyperscreen, a massive 99.3 cm (39.1 inch) curved glass panel that combines the driver's screen, the central display and a dedicated passenger screen. The entire ecosystem runs on the new MB.OS operating system, which brings generative artificial intelligence and an advanced virtual assistant. Another absolute novelty is the Sound Visualisation function, which synchronizes the ambient lighting in the passenger compartment with the rhythm of the music played by the top-of-the-range Burmester® 4D audio system.
For impeccable road holding, the car can be equipped with the Agility & Comfort package, which includes the AIRMATIC air suspension with predictive damping (which uses cloud data via Car-to-X and Google Maps to prepare the suspension before encountering a bump) and all-wheel steering (rear axle steering up to 4.5 degrees), reducing the turning radius in the city.
Prices and equipment lines in Romania
In Romania, the starting price for the new electric Mercedes-Benz C-Class is 63,990 euros including VAT, valid for the basic Avantgarde equipment line.
What does the Avantgarde standard equipment include? Although it is the entry-level version, it comes generously equipped: High Performance LED headlights, 18-inch wheels, panoramic roof, artificial leather upholstery, heated front seats, 12.3-inch central display, dual wireless charging system in the front and a 22 kW AC on-board charger (three-phase), ideal for fast charging at the office or at home.
For those who want a more dynamic visual appearance and sporty accents, two optional packages are available:
- AMG exterior line: +3,509 euros (aggressive bumpers, specific rims and firmer suspension tuning).
- AMG Plus Line: +7,683 euros (adds premium interior finishes, oversized wheels and additional technology packages).
