The Romanian car market is welcoming a new ambitious player in the electrified SUV segment: the Geely Starray EM-i. This model marks the debut of the Chinese brand's first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) locally, betting on an aggressive combination of competitive pricing, cutting-edge technology and record efficiency.
Performance and Efficiency: EM-i Technology Under the Magnifier
The heart of the new Starray is the EM-i (E-Motive intelligence) propulsion system. This is not just a simple hybrid, but an assembly designed to maximize thermal efficiency, reaching a threshold of 46.5%, among the highest in the automotive industry today.
- Internal combustion engine: 1.5 liter gasoline, 99 HP.
- Electric Motor: 218 HP and an instant torque of 262 Nm.
- Battery: 18.4 kWh, offering a pure electric range of 83 km (WLTP), ideal for daily, emission-free urban commuting.
- Total Autonomy: Up to 943 kilometers, completely eliminating the "range anxiety" specific to electric cars.
For those times when you're on the go, the Starray EM-i supports 30 kW DC fast charging, allowing you to go from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes.
Space and Comfort: A "Marshmallow" Interior
Geely has placed particular emphasis on ergonomics and usable space. With a wheelbase of 2,755 mm, the SUV offers a segment-leading interior space utilization rate of 67.5%.

- Trunk: Flexible, between 528 and 2,065 liters.
- Extra space: A 100-liter compartment hidden under the trunk floor.
- Comfort: The seats are designed with "Marshmallow" technology (8 layers of foam) for optimal support on long journeys.

The cabin is dominated by generous screens: a 10.2-inch digital dashboard and a 15.4-inch vertical central screen. The top version, Max, adds a 13.8-inch Head-up Display and a 1,000 W premium audio system from Flyme Sound, which includes speakers integrated even into the headrests for an immersive experience.

The Starray EM-i makes no compromises on safety, achieving the maximum 5-star Euro NCAP rating. The ADAS assistance package includes:
